Winnipeg Trend House Photos
We recently spent a week in Winnipeg and were pleasantly surprised at the amount of awesome mid-century architecture that is still intact. One of the hilights of our trip was a visit to the Winnipeg Trend house, still standing proudly. Gordon Katelnikoff, son of the original architect Walter Katelnikoff very generously allowed us into his house to spend the afternoon looking around and hearing stories of his father and the house.
While the house has been added, and some of the surface finishes have been modified over time, the signature elements of the house are still very visible. The fireplace, walls and ceiling are all preserved in their original glory. The house has been in the family since it was completed, and Gordon has a treasure trove of original plans, drawings and photos of the house showing exactly what it looked like when it was open to the public. In fact, Gordon even has some of the original furniture!
It was a wonderful visit, and not only did we come away with some great memories, but Gordon very generously gave up a copy of the original Trend House booklet, which we’ve been looking for for over a decade!
